What started out in 1968 as a hobby for Dick Gripp rapidly grew into a business. Incorporated in 1973 as Plains Livestock Transportation, the company started with 14 trucks and hauled cattle from California to Florida, with a focus on businesses in the Texas Panhandle.
With an eye on growth, Plains expanded into new areas in 1979. Without abandoning our cattle hauling roots, Plains Transportation evolved into a full-service shipping company under the wise and passionate leadership of Jane Gripp. Continued growth led Plains to move in 1984 from our original home at the Amarillo Livestock Auction, to our current Headquarters at 6699 South Washington St in Amarillo, Texas. Our Headquarters boasts a full-service Truck and Trailer Shop with safety lanes, wash bay, and fuel island.
Plains has grown beyond our historic roots and is an award winning refrigerated carrier transporting the temperature sensitive freight of our clients in the Great Plains, Southwest, Midwest, West Coast, and Southern United States.
